Tee Claw comes to LE Custom Fitting Studio

teeclaw 1

I am excited to announce that Tee Claw has come to the studio.

The product is really good as it replaces flimsy fixed position rubber tees, fastens to any artificial mats or grass and works with any tee.

In addition to this, each claw can accomodate an elastic lanyard which can be stretched to any angle between two claws.

This will aid coaching for any drills or techinque change. It gives you a visual that will never move.

Along with this it houses any tee so tee heights will never be a problem for the future.

I have used this for todays coaching and every client has been impressed.

If you would like to experience a lesson with the tee claws then please click here

Services range from a lesson to making your current clubs the best they can be or even to get a custom fitted club(s).

My aim is to make every golfer that walks through the studio door, a golfer that is better equiped in every aspect by the time they leave the same door. This seems to put my business at the forefront with current clients and also leads them to recommend others.

My results are almost instant and improvements along with enjoyment happen with longevity.

My aim also is to reduce everyones handicap by 3 or scores by 5 shots.

If you haven't been to see us maybe you have mentioned us to someone who has, so thank you for your referrals.....................we just hope they're not now winning the money!

Mizuno Fitting Day - 28th September. ironstotouchyoursoul

Mizuno 280917

September sees the new exciting and stunning MP-18 range coming into the studio for fittings.

Their are 4 different head designs that will cover all ranges of handicap.

As usual, Mizuno are the only company that doesnt have upgrade charges for shafts or grips. The price is the price.

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

So is the MP-18 range just aimed at the low single-figure handicapper?

The way they have configured the MP-18 family, they have tried to expand to – I wouldn’t say the high handicapper – but more a medium to low handicapper in terms of all the different options you have for mixing and matching.

That includes the new MP-18 Fli Hi which allows players to replace those long irons for something more playable.

Are we seeing a crossover here between the MP line and the JPX900 line?

There is overlap. There has been overlap in the past.

If there is going to be an overlap they have to do that in an intelligent way.

The JPX900 Tour is actually a larger head than all of the MP-18 models – even the MMC head.

But it’s more about the look of the club. The JPX900 design philosophy owes more to speed, aggression, futurity.

The MP is more a nod to the past as a timeless classic with those clean and sophisticated looks.

Even though there may be a little bit of a playability overlap, they still feel like they are talking to a different player. And that is to do with how the club looks.

Interesting. I look at the JPX900 Tour and think, not for me. I look at the MP-18 MMC and think, yeah why not?

They’ve learned and I feel the rest of the industry is learning as well that there are 15 and 20 handicapper who are really serious about the game.

They are passionate, they want to improve and aspire to play better. They want help from their golf clubs but they also want their golf clubs to look serious.

They want it to look like a proper golf club, they don’t want it to be overly bulky or have loud colours or look odd.

That’s kind of where Mizuno are going with this MP line. You can build a set for a 15 handicapper.

Going through the line we have the muscleback which is pretty playable but not a lot of people can handle that.

The split cavity has a little bit more forgiveness but it’s very much a pure players, shallow cavity design. It’s for the guy who wants a little bit more forgiveness.

The MMC, even though it’s in an MP package, the way Mizuno have positioned the Tungsten in the toe and the Titanuim behind the face – which is forged into the head – they can make this play surprisingly forgiving for its size.

If a 12-15 handicapper loves the way MP looks but is a little bit intimidated in terms of playablity. Why not have MMC 7-PW and then move into the MMC Fli Hi? These are very easy to launch with their hollow body construction.

How much of a consideration was it that players might like to blend these models together?

It was an extremely thoughtful process. The muscleback and the split cavity are a natural combo – same lofts, headsizes and offsets very similar.

The MMC and the MMC Fli Hi are actually two degrees stronger it’s a 28˚ 6-iron compared to a 30˚ 6-iron in the other two. There’s a bit more launch from the multi-material design.

So the MMC and the MMC Fli Hi naturally blend together. But the clever bit Mizuno did was tuned the offset of the MMC so that if you tweak the lofts to match the muscleback and the SC, the offsets will flow perfectly.

If you want the split cavity 5-PW and then a 3 and 4 in the MMC we can make everything blend together. It should be a really smooth transition.

Jack DeLooper Putting Lesson

Jack has continually improved over a period of time with the Improvement Package @customgolfessex.

We have honed in on his putting technique, Jack was struggling for pace control and also direction.

We looked firstly at his specs on the putter itself, we concluded that he had the right loft and lie angle.

We looked at his technique and noticed that he had indifferent paces of swing along with a very in to out path of swing. From the video we balanced it out to more of a straight path leading to consistently holing or finishing closer putts.

The ruler helped that technique and will continue to develop what we are trying to achieve in the stroke.

Another client reducing his handicap by 5

luke logo 150

I went to see Luke Eggleston in May 2016 and booked a course of 6 lessons. I had previously had a course of 12 lessons with another Golf Professional in 2011 and had struggled to improve my game. Luke claimed before our first lesson that after the course of lessons that he would improve my game and lower my handicap by 3 shots. When I started with Luke I was a 15 handicap, recently I have won 4 singles competitions at Wanstead Golf Club and seen my handicap reduce to 10.

I would recommend Luke Eggleston to any golfer looking to improve their game.

Testimonials keep coming about LE Custom Fitting Studio

luke logo 150

I have been playing golf for a year now and have been using clubs bought on eBay. I have been having lessons and felt it was time to invest in a new set of clubs. My golf coach recommended Luke for a club fitting.

I made my appointment, on arriving at the studio Luke greeted me and immediately put me at ease asking a few questions then getting me to hit some shots with my own clubs. Using the data that was generated and a few swings with a practice club I was on my way to trying different head and shaft options. There was the odd wayward shot but Luke as very patient and once again put me at ease.

Throughout the whole process he explained what he was doing and how he was using the data to find the right club for me. Once I had decided on the shaft the lie was checked and I ended up with clubs that I was very happy and comfortable with. I was that impressed with Luke and the professional way in which he conducted the fitting it inspired me to order a set Mizuno clubs there and then.

Luke ordered them for me on the Monday and on that Friday Luke phoned me to say the clubs were ready for collection. I picked them up and went straight to the driving range had a lesson then played in our local swindle that afternoon which I won with my new clubs.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Luke for a golf club fitting.

Callaway Epic Irons now available for fitting

epic irons

Callaway Epic Irons have arrived.

For all fittings please go here

I am thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of the best performing and most technically advanced Irons & Hybrids Callaway have ever produced.

The new Epic & Epic Pro Irons, and Epic Hybrid (due very soon), have been designed and manufactured without any boundaries to R&D costs, materials, or engineering process. The finished products are truly stunning

At the heart of each head is a high-grade, lightweight and strong cast-steel Exo-Cage construction that stiffens the body, particularly in the top line and sole, allowing the face to take on more impact load, in turn generating faster ball speeds, more distance and enhanced performance.

A next-generation 360 Face Cup – just 1mm thick at its thinnest point – is another key ingredient to unlocking extra yards throughout each set. Featuring an ultra-thin rim around the perimeter of the inner side of the face, at impact it flexes and rebounds to add ball speed on centre-hit shots, while minimising loss on off-centre strikes.

The CG position in each head is precisely and individually managed via a new Metal Injection Moulded (MIM) process that utilises a dense, and heavy, tungsten powder baked into intricate Internal Standing Wave shapes that are unique to each iron.
This ground-breaking, industry-first process allows the CG to be exactly positioned from club-to-club, (in the 3- to 8-iron 30% of the total head weight is located in the Internal Standing Wave alone) making long irons easy launching and high flying, and shorter clubs more controllable.

The Epic Pro Iron benefits from all the technologies of the standard Epic Iron in a slightly smaller head, slimmer top line, and less offset to promote a premium forged-like feel and workability that better players desire, without any loss in performance.

Epic Hybrids:
These products represent the most precisely engineered, fully adjustable and versatile utility clubs the company has ever released.

Borrowing proprietary Triaxial Carbon Composite technology from the revolutionary Great Big Bertha Epic and Epic Sub Zero Drivers, the crown on the Epic Hybrids is the thinnest and lightest material – weighing just 5g - Callaway has ever used.

This substantial weight saving is then re-distributed into strategic locations within the ultra-premium body frame to dramatically increase MOI and lower the CG, making the Epic Hybrids exceptionally powerful, forgiving, accurate and easy to launch.

Distance has been dialled up courtesy of Callaway’s industry-leading 455 Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup Technology. The thin and flexible rim around the inner side of the face flexes and releases more uniformly and efficiently at impact, increasing ball speed across the face, especially towards the bottom, where most miss-hits occur.

Mirroring technology in Epic Irons, a Metal Injection Moulded (MIM) process that utilises a dense and heavy tungsten powder, 1.8 times heavier than steel, creates intricate 35g Internal Standing Wave shapes that are precisely and robotically laser-welded into each head. This helps maximise MOI of the hybrid and, with CG positioned extremely low and deep in the head, increases its forgiveness and power.

Specifications & Availability:
• Epic Irons are available 3-PW, with optional AW and SW, right and left-handed, Rifle Project X LZ 95 steel shafts or UST Mamiya Recoil 760/780 EX graphite shafts, and Golf Pride New Decade Platinum grips.
• Epic Pro Irons are available 3-PW, with optional AW, right and left-handed, Rifle Project X LZ 105 steel shafts, and Golf Pride New Decade Platinum grips. Irons will be in store from June 16, 2017.

I first met Luke when he fitted clubs for my husband. I was so impressed with the high tech facilities along with Lake's relaxed approach. I booked much needed lessons.

Luke has transformed my game & given me so much confidence.  Luke is incredibly flexible & was soon able to pinpoint areas of my game that needed attention. Luke is patient & non judgemental & hugely encouraging.

I also appreciate Lake's non pushy manner. Despite my request to purchase a hybrid from him, Luke gently encouraged me to persevere with my woods.

I can't recommend Luke highly enough!

Hi Luke,

I hope all is well.

I just thought I would drop you a line about the new clubs as it's going well so far.

On the second time of using them I shot my best ever gross score of 84 which I was chuffed about but on the 3rd occasion (on Sunday) I went out and shot a gross of 81! 😁

That extra 3 inches I had added to my putter has also helped and I'm finally sinking some putts!

Ps. I'll be in touch about my lesson soon.

Cheers,

Kurtis

Neil Vann receiving his New Mizuno Irons & Wedges

Neil Vann

Neil Vann has been a client for nearly 12 years.

In that time we have nurtured Neil to a comendable 9 handicap.

His game now is more consistent in all aspects along with a tidy short game.

Neil has been a great supporter of myself and my business.

Here shows Neil receiving his new Mizuno irons and wedges. We found on his recent fitting that the Mizuno irons and wedges gave him another edge in regards to improving and reducing his handicap further.

We also did a gapping session to find out his new and improved distances.

The Essex Open

essex open scorecard

Yesterday Colchester Golf Club hosted The Essex Open.

The new Mizuno Irons & wedges were accompanied by the Callaway Epic 3 and 5 woods. The clubs are now settling in well and are showing that the switch of manufacturers are proving to be fruitful.

Ably assisted by my caddy, John, we set off for a long day for the 36 hole tournament. The course was presented in a good fashion as usual and proved to be a good test.

Starting at the 11th in the morning 18 holes I was lying in 2nd place, shooting 69 (-1) and being a shot behind. The round was evenful as you'll see from the scorecard below, the highlight was an eagle at the 9th.

After a short break for lunch we set off to try and win my 1st Essex Open. Now starting at the 1st we set out a game plan to attack. We had good opportunities at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th to make birdies, but we only managed 1. Due to the nature of the game plan we overcooked 2 of the next three and made bogeys!!

We settled down and still didn't make any putts from the next 6 holes after again knocking irons in close. A now tired swing off 15 led to a resulting bogey, although we pushed hard for the remaining 3 holes and only took 1 opportunity.

It was pleasing to finish 4th overall.

We had many plus points from these two rounds, found some things to work on and some things to keep doing by following the processes I have put in place over the last 25 years.

I will keep plugging away and see what comes of the next event at the Hadley Wood Pro-Am on 26th of this month.
